In the U.S. and Europe, policy advocacy and public relations are critical for management, helping new industries like sustainability, advanced medicine, and AI achieve sustainable growth. However, many Japanese managers focus primarily on strengthening services and competing with rivals, neglecting the creation of an external environment. This gap is a key challenge for Japan’s economy, which has faced long-term stagnation and fallen to fourth place globally in GDP.

Has achieved numerous domestic and international regulatory reform successes through strategic GR and PR that engages media, political actors, and key opinion leaders.

Joined McKinsey & Company as a new graduate and engaged in management consulting primarily in the consumer goods and retail sectors. Experienced projects across a broad range of themes including new business development, corporate strategy, business due diligence, and digital strategy. Since joining PSN, has supported numerous companies in addressing social challenges as a consultant across industries and company sizes, while also overseeing equity investment operations and portfolio company support.

Since joining PSN, also serves as Representative of Tokyo Startup VC Alliance, dedicated to supporting startups tackling social challenges.

Makoto Suzuki is a journalist and editorial commentator at Fuji Television. He has served as Political Correspondent, New York Bureau Chief and Business News Editor. In 2022, he received the Social Journalist Award from the Japan Association of New Public. He has authored several books, including Shinjiro Koizumi: A Choice for a New Era and Hiroshi Nakamura: The Man Who Built Japan’s Paralympics. He is also an expert member of the Central Council for Education at MEXT; advisor to Directions Group; ambassador for White Hand Chorus NIPPON; a member of EIRIN’s youth film recommendation committee; and a tourism ambassador for Hakodate City. He also teaches journalism at the Institute of Science Tokyo and Tokyo Woman’s Christian University. Before joining Fuji Television, he held several private-sector roles, including at the Norinchukin Bank’s New York branch.
